Parents Transform Your Life with The Homestead Model™: A 6-Month Practical Journey to Nervous System Regulation
The Homestead Model™ Group Wellbeing Program for Parents and Neurodivergent Families
✨ Why Emotional Regulation is Crucial for Neurodivergent Families ✨
Parenting is already a full-time challenge, but when you add neurodivergence – whether it’s you, your child, or both – it can feel overwhelming. It is overwhelming! The constant juggle of sensory needs, emotional responses, and the unrelenting demands of daily life can leave parents feeling burned out, disconnected, or even stuck in survival mode.
The good news? Emotional regulation isn’t just possible – it can transform your family’s dynamics. That’s what The Homestead Model™ for Emotional Regulation is designed to do: help parents navigate the unique challenges of neurodivergent families with tools that bring calm, clarity, and connection.
Discover the R.U.D. Process for Nervous System Regulation
The R.U.D. Process® – Recognise, Understand, and Diffuse – is a transformative method developed by Yasmin Shaheen-Zaffar to help neurodivergent individuals regulate their nervous systems through creative tracking and self-exploration.
Using reflective scribbles, doodles, colours, shimmies, and shimmers, this process turns self-monitoring into an accessible and enjoyable experience. Rather than focusing on traditional “feelings talk,” the R.U.D. Process emphasises identifying physical states, exploring thought patterns, and noticing body sensations.
Participants use creative mediums to map their experiences, making it especially suited for those with alexithymia or who find emotional language challenging. Integrated tools like the What’s My State? Cards and Track and Scribbledeedo® – Scribbles, Doodles, Colors, Shimmies, and Shimmers – provide practical and engaging ways to apply this method in daily life.
Change happens through increased self-awareness. By engaging in the R.U.D. Process, you’ll begin to monitor your nervous system and behaviours in a way that gathers invaluable insights. This journey will guide you to better understand your unique patterns, enabling you to make meaningful changes in how you respond to life’s challenges.
Over six months, Yasmin will lead you through this journey with compassion and care. In her non-shaming approach, she’ll show you how self-monitoring can become a powerful tool for self-discovery, helping you achieve clarity, balance, and steadiness. The R.U.D. Process® empowers you to step into a deeper connection with yourself and create lasting, positive changes in your life.
The Pain Points I Understand
If you’re a parent in a neurodivergent family, you may face these daily challenges:
💔 Emotional Overload:
Meltdowns, shutdowns, and sensory overwhelm aren’t just your child’s experience – they affect you too. When you’re dysregulated, it’s nearly impossible to support your child.
💔 Burnout and Fatigue:
Between managing schedules, advocating for your child’s needs, and dealing with judgment from others, the constant demands of parenting leave little room for your own well-being.
💔 Feeling Isolated or Misunderstood:
Whether you’re the neurodivergent parent or parenting a neurodivergent child, it can feel like no one truly understands the challenges your family faces.
💔 Strained Relationships:
The stress of managing emotions and navigating differences can strain relationships—between you and your child, your partner, or extended family.
💔 Guilt and Self-Doubt:
The pressure to “get it right” can feel crushing. You may worry that you’re not doing enough, or feel guilty when things don’t go as planned.
Why Emotional Regulation Matters for Families
Emotional regulation is the key to breaking free from survival mode and building a thriving family life. Here’s why it’s crucial:
✔️ For You: When you learn to regulate your own nervous system, you can parent from a place of steadiness rather than stress.
✔️ For Your Child: Co-regulation helps your child feel safe, which is essential for their emotional and cognitive growth.
✔️ For Your Relationships: Emotional regulation fosters better communication and deeper connection within your family.
✔️ For the Long-Term: You’re not just surviving the moment – you’re modeling emotional skills your child will carry into adulthood.
