Maybe the medication didn’t quite workout the way you hoped? You may even be looking for an alternative to medication? Or something to work alongside it?
Are you hoping to witness an understanding that goes beyond basic coping strategies so you can unleash your full potential in your career and personal life?
You acknowledge that you need to start doing things a different way. You want to stop hiding. But you feel stuck. Maybe paralysed with fear. Don’t know where to start?
What you do know this way of living is stifling your creativity and stopping you from moving forward, enough is enough and you want to make change.
The Homestead Model™ core is your holistic polyvagal informed, one to one 12 session programme for the neurodivergent creative’s and entrepreneurs. It is created and delivered by neurodivergent relational trauma therapist Yasmin Shaheen-Zaffar to enhance self-understanding through the power of psychoeducation and the mind-body connection.

This approach combines different methods like talking, sharing of latest neuroscience theory, self-monitoring, listening to sounds, movement, and sometimes using technology to help your nervous system feel balanced and comfortable again. It’s like guiding your nervous system back to a place where it gives you permission to feel safe and contented, so you can start doing well and feeling good.
We will delve into how your unique sensory sensitivities shape your interaction with the world and the relationships you build, whilst addressing the language around neurodivergence and understanding your unique neurospice mix. This will lead us to start uncovering your processes – especially the ones that hinder you or keep you stuck.
Improve communication through understanding your unique nervous system and build emotional regulation skills. Master techniques to manage Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and meltdowns and shutdowns for the highly sensitive person. Become aware of the potential impact of burnout and take steps to minimise its risk.
Begin healing from past experiences with compassionate and empathetic guidance. Work with attachment, the inner teen and the shadow.
Once you understand your needs and have improved emotional regulation you are supported in seeking accommodations giving you the ability to speak up for your needs with a newfound clarity and confidence.
Once we recognise, heal and gently untangle ourselves from shame, we will explore further how masking shows up in your life and work on understanding if your behaviours are helpful for you or need adjusting to support you in thriving in your career and your personal life.
Understanding the impact of self-care on both your personal and professional relationships is crucial for promoting overall well-being, productivity, and success.
By exploring your self-care processes, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your relationship with them, ultimately aiming to strengthen this connection.
We will work towards harmonising the different facets of your identity for a more cohesive sense of self.
We will explore the intersectionality of your neurodivergence and how it impacts various aspects of your life including but not limited to – finance, organisation, relationships, menopause, andropause, parenting, dating, intimacy, career, body image, nutrition, sleep, movement, culture, religion, spirituality, entrepreneurship and the ways that you find connection and comfort.
The benefits of learning to challenge not only your own but societal norms that may hinder your self-acceptance are numerous and can include enhanced creativity and innovation, improved problem-solving abilities, increased resilience and adaptability.
The Homestead Model™ pairs this in depth mentoring and psychoeducation with somatic movement and either the Safe and Sound Protocol, the Focus System or Neurofeedback – evidence-based therapeutic tools that aid in connecting with your body at a profound level.

This living document will evolve as you progress, offering clarity and guidance along the path towards your individual growth and self-discovery of your authentic self.
Hey I am Yasmin a neurodivergent relational trauma therapist. Drawing from my personal and professional experiences, the Homestead Model™ was born out of the recognition of the pervasive state of overwhelm, shame, stuckness and despair experienced by many neurodivergent individuals.

The Homestead Model™ represents more than just another coping strategy; it’s a roadmap which offers a transformative journey towards a profound understanding of your relationship with your neurodivergent self and the world around you.
Tailored uniquely to your individual needs, this model integrates a blend of polyvagal informed talk therapy, psychoeducation, self-learning, mentoring, and auditory processing (utilising methods such as the Safe and Sound Protocol, Focus System, or Neurofeedback) to promote healing and regulation within your nervous system. This holistic approach leads to enhanced communication and a deeper self-awareness.
Distinguished by a series of ten core modules which are adjusted to meet your unique needs, this program serves as a roadmap for rediscovering your identity through the lens of acceptance, inclusivity and diversity.
The Homestead Model™ is designed to address your unique neurodivergent wellbeing needs, providing you with personalised support and guidance tailored to your specific journey towards self-understanding and growth. Through the Homestead Model™, we will explore and nurture the profound connection between your mind and body, fostering a harmonious alignment that supports your overall wellbeing and personal development. The mind-body connection cannot be separated when understanding and managing your neurodivergent wellbeing.
With the Homestead Model™, I support you in empowering you to address shame and remove obstacles that have held you back, allowing you to move forward with confidence, embrace your authentic self, and break free from limitations that hinder your progress. These can apply to emotional and/ or practical challenges in your personal or business life.
This model will cultivate a deep understanding of yourself, your processes and your limiting beliefs – creating an environment where you can thrive by embracing your neurodivergent identity and navigating the world with clarity and self-acceptance. As you heal you will gain a better understanding of the different parts of self and the roles they play in your life.
By focusing on emotional regulation, you will gain mastery over managing your emotional responses, leading to more effective communication and the ability to forge healthier and more resilient connections with others.
Using the techniques and learning integrated into the Homestead Model™ through a polyvagal informed lens, you will develop improved communication skills, enabling you to build stronger and more meaningful relationships in both personal and professional spheres. This improved communication will support you in self-advocacy, seeking accommodations and ultimately getting your needs met. A life lived with unmet needs is a catalyst for discontent and increases the risk of developing mental health challenges.
This is integral in fostering self-awareness and promoting positive change within.
